Trends are great.
I love looking at them, I love thinking about them, and I like taking inspiration from them.
But I don’t want to end up looking like someone who doesn’t have a clue about what style really is.
It’s one thing to love trends and to embrace them (harem pants, anyone?)
How anyone thinks these diapers are fashionable, is beyond me.
The idea of a SHORTER harem pant, not as baggy, and a bit more fitted is a step up (see the last picture), but it still looks awful.
Even when paired with some expensive Christian Louboutins.
It’s another thing to deck yourself out in a whole lot of trends, and call yourself fashionable.
Tights? Check.
Capelet? Check.
Matching? … Huge check.
This outfit could have worked and looked chic, had she not matched everything.
Trends are meant to inspire, and to draw ideas from, so you can update your own personal style.
I think we can all look at our quintessential fashion victim: Lindsay Lohan.
Now don’t get me wrong. Sometimes she hits on a good note and looks great.
I think the first shot of her is cute (if the t-shirt was about 4 inches longer)
And the last shot of her in leggings and that cute blue top, really hit on a good note.
But the rest? Oh please!
But more often than not, we love looking at pictures of her looking like a hot mess.
And there are many other celebrities out there who have no idea how to dress themselves.
But wanting to be trendy, after visiting some fashion shows, they mish and mash a style together and call it fashion.
A perennial fashion victim is Bai Ling of course (pictured on the left).
I never expect her to show up in anything classy.
Mary-Kate Olsen gets bashed a lot for being a fashion victim, and looking at these pictures below, I can believe it.
The first one isn’t so bad, if she would wear a skirt.
The second is by far the best out of the three, even if she looks a bit like a little girl trying to dress up in Mommy’s shoes.
And the last one with those Heidi braids and clunky heels is a total fashion disaster.
Instead, aim for this:
Classic pieces, pearls and a nice dress.
And a wonderful, bright coat with a stunning smile.
