The key to making jeans last longer, is to take care of them.
That way, you can justify buying premium denim (perhaps on sale?) and keep them for as long as they’ll zip up.
TAKING CARE OF JEANS
Hem them if they are too long
Or do like me, and tuck them into knee high boots until you get around to doing so.
Baggy or flared jeans should not be tucked into anything
Unless you are going for the baggy-knee, farmer bumpkin meets city girl look.
Straight-legs can pass the muster, but skinnier to skinny jeans are the best.
Fix them the minute they rip
If you don’t, it just gets longer and longer.
A stitch in time, saves nine and all that.
I have a pair of jeans (you’ve seen them in photos), last me 6 years and counting so far.
Leave them out of the dryer
The dryer breaks down the fibers of the jeans, and makes them deteriorate/rip quicker.
Don’t wash your dark denims with lights
Big no-no. (As is saying “no-no” in the English language).
Actually, don’t even take dark denims near light coloured anything.
Shoes, purses.. the dark denim WILL rub off on them.
Guaranteed. I have a great blue smudge on my purse as proof.
Zip them up and wash them inside out
You should do this with all pants, but especially with dark denims.
BUYING JEANS
Trends are not to be trifled with
I buy mid-rise, dark wash, straight-legged, NON-STRETCH jeans.
I avoid embellishments, embroidery (especially up and down the side of the jeans..*shudder*) and weird washes.
AVOID AVOID!!!!
Think about different jean colours
White jeans.
Black jeans.
Grey jeans.
Or in a different style altogether
Or how about a trouser jean or jean pencil skirt to add a little flair?
They’re a great way to spice up an outfit.
Stretch jeans does some weird things to your butt
Well, my butt gets flattened.
And I’ve seen girls wear stretch jeans, that made their butts double in half, with a large indentation in the middle.
Very unattractive.
That’s why I only buy cloth, non-stretch jeans.
Check for jean pocket placements
Large pockets make a butt look smaller, and small pockets gives more curve to those who have none *raises hand*
Low-rise is NOT your friend
Unless you are ridiculously stick thin skinny, and you don’t mind looking like you don’t have much of a butt…
Or if you like showing some whale tail.
Mid-rise is much more flattering on most women.
It also gives you muffin top or Dunlap Syndrome
Low-rise is NOT going to make you look sexier, and curvier in the back.
Or well covered, for that matter.
Low rise jeans have a short jean line, that tricks the eye, and makes people think you have a flatter butt.
